I agree with you to a certain extent, in THUNDERDOME he's MAD because he's always rebellious, he's always against "authority" (either Aunty's and Savannah's) and general prevarication. He's one of the kind, and he know it. He's the fine line between good and evil, and he know it. Probably when he said "This WASN'T part of the deal", I think Aunty just thought: "What a fukk, this man is really mad. he's crazy! He could really have grabbed everything he'd want at that point... but he just refused !!!!! ". A bit of tantrum, because Aunty secretly liked Max Then, I always meant "MAD" in the DAREDEVIL type of thing. Max is mad. He drove towards Aunty's army at high speed, 'bulletting' himself like a crazy rocket. He just don't care, he HAS to do the right thing --- and he uses every "vehicle" to achieve his purpouse. He's definitely an insane, unstoppable co*ky bastard. Right? The asphalt is going to come back this time, and so, this way, MM Beyond Thunderdome is really going to be such an unique entry in the series

Maybe they will do it. It's still uncertain...

Actually,
Have you noticed that Ironbar Bassey supposedly died or went mortally hit in the face about 8 TIMES (counting the hot pig slop and Bartertown/Underworld's annihilation) and when, at the very end, he gave the middle finger out to us... it could have been his NINETH LIFE?

Wez would never be able to be in Fury road. Maybe a relative wanting revenge but the MM movies never do continuity. I have to admit Iron bar was one tough cookie in BT. Perhaps it was the Geisha mask? I dunno since it was broken maybe ol' max will kill him in fury road. That's a real mystery. I mean, that freakin' scary Geisha mask could have been the source of his power, after all. If it's so, after the big crash, when Ironbar Bassey managed to "touch" and possibly grab the mask one more time... maybe that only gave him more days to live. And that's pretty scary, you know. I think there is a good chances Ironbar Bassey is still out of there.

That's another great post! Actually, I'm truly suspecting someone cloned my mind and incapsulated the copy inside a new different look-like body, and he just named "the product" WRANGLER ;D
Okay,
IRONBAR BASSEY is easily the toughest one, and my personal fave out of Max's villains. He was part Aunty Entity's personal bodyguard, part Guardsmen's lieutenent (I called him "Prime Guardsman"). After Master's apparent demise, he would eventually have assumed MORE value than both his basic functions, because Aunty just nomined him new ruler of UNDERWORLD ("You rule Bartertown... fix you!"). Unquestionably, Ironbar was Aunty's principal instrument to build up an outpost like BARTERTOWN. She needed brutal strenght and high fidelity in order to collect more accolytes and make her brand-new law respected at the beginning of survivors's "collective life".
Ironbar was a four-wheels Marauder, coming back to the RW era, but sure as hell he soon learned to live "civilized" because he realized it was the only way to make it at the point in which guzzline supplies were gone for good. He was smart, a rare kind of controlled-rage human machine. That's the main difference with WEZ, you know. Both are beasts, but Wez enjoyed his "animal side" way too much (and this brought him to die in the end) while Ironbar managed to find some social/"humanistically" purpouses in his existence, resulting into a new type of barbarian. He could have outfoxed Wez everywhile it was needed. He got brains, in the first place.
Dear Wrangler, Ironbar retains some sort of cryptical, hideous power. His skin seems to be potentiated to extreme, temperature-proof. His body is very strong, resistent, and probably resilient as well. The pig nuts was hotter than hell, just as example. He can feel tattile sensations, however. I don't know if the source was genetical (think to Max's reflexes or Blaster's incredible strenght --- I use to call them "Deviants", a sort of mild version of the well-famed "mutants". Due to slight evolutionary shift, of course) or just mystical (his TOTEM --- the japanese mask). Anyway, at the end, Ironbar managed to re-connect with the mask (which COULD imply his power is everything but lost) and give us his best fu*k you.
There is a rivalry between Max and Ironbar. Both managed to piss off each other in various moments since their first meeting. It was EVEN Ironbar who SEW in Max a potential opponent/danger. When Max entered in Bartertown for the very first time, under the mark "Help Build A Better Tomorrow", you could see Ironbar beginning to follow Max. I think he sensed what Max was. At a certain, dramatic point, rivalry turned into hate. I don't know if you understood it, but Bassey commited suicide in order to kill Max. He drove his junkmobile (BIG FOOT) towards Max's (MAXIMUM STOMPER) in what it looks like a suicide act. Unfortunately, Max managed to jump off the vehicle (so I think Ironbar just understimated Max's abilities) and Ironbar finded himself kamikazing against an empty target.
I think maybe Ironbar Bassey survived... and he could return in Max's life as a ghost of the past.
Definitely, my fave villain.

www.wayney.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/eltopo.htm us.imdb.com/Title?0067866www.thegline.com/dvd-of-the-week/2002/12-02-2002.htm The weirdest movie ever realized on the face of Earth... one of the greatest masterpieces ever been. I think God George Miller was in a way inspired by this jewel: every main "Mad Max" element was truly into it, vehicles apart. We're talkin' about a 1970's flick who summed up the whole Max's journey across the Wasteland. One, Road Warrior and Thunderdome, all into a whole beautiful package of genius. This was the birth of the POST-MODERN ADVENTURE. Long before "THE OMEGA MAN" (1971), or "ZARDOZ" (1973), or Go NAGAI's "VIOLENCE JACK" (1973) or even "THE ULTIMATE WARRIOR" and "A BOY AN HIS DOG" (both 1975). I'm a collector/expert/fanatic of the genre since I realized to be a Mad Maxian, so trust in me. Just a clue... "El Topo"... well, in Italy it means "The Mouse"... reflexes to anyone?

Guys, I always loved this character, and always will. It's one of my faves, despite the fact his screen time is actually limited. GEORGE SPARTELS did a magnificent jop, playing this trickster/ruffian/wannabe fighter... and first of all, he's a mechanic! I have some points to ponder with you, if you really want: 1- The first time Max has been introduced to Underworld, Master-Blaster didn't care about our hero at all, because as we all know there was that impelling trouble of the BOOBY TRAP-equipped junkmobile... BOOM! I don't remember how much dynamite Max put below his junkmobile ("it's a class job") but for what I reckoned, it was a very LARGE amount, ready to explode. Anyway, Master-Blaster trusted in Blackfinger, despite Master apparently hated the man. Well, some of you just remember HOW Master called Blackfinger in the very first time? He said something like that: "Where is that kind of mechanic, Blackfinger"... I just can't remember what was the specific word Master used to define Blackfinger - Plus, I'm Italian. Anyway, that means Blackfinger wasn't that great as mechanic, and he could not replace Master in Bartertown second run, in my humble opinion ;D Maybe he was the mainman for the Junkmobiles... but definitely NOT a replacement to the engineering mind of Master. 2- I always wondered why Blackfinger belongs to Master in the Saturday Night scene. He's a real two-timer! 3- Blackfinger and his involvement with the chase scene. If you think for a while, Aunty SHOULDN'T use Blackfinger in such a dangerous operation... he was the only mechanic she got at that time. On the other hand, Blackfinger was the only one to know how to repair the damaged Junkmobiles (it seems he built them up, maybe that's why they all trust in him). Aunty couldn't pay risks to be struck in the middle of the Wasteland with her QUEEN WASP out of the business. The problem is that Blackfinger made the hero in a couple of action scenes - HA HA! Poor Aunty, she was really desperate I guess. Just some points, guys.
