For an idea of the kind of place Bartertown is, refer to this picture. Of course in order for better Roleplaying purposes, buildings and characters will have been invented that will not have appeared in the movie. picture courtesy of David Seymour who was present when the actual set was built back in the 80's

There will ALWAYS be a Role Playing Game going on in the Cafe, perhaps a tightly scripted adventure of epic proportions, perhaps just a real loose scenario, your characters sitting around drinking, exchanging stories etc. The Most important thing is to stay IC (In Character), after all, the rest of the forum is for movie talk, out of character reviews and opinions etc. Within the Atomic Cafe however, members get to write their own wasteland characters as they see fit, really get into their characters and live in the world of Mad Max, writing their own adventures in the waste. Posts which aren't proper Roleplaying may indeed be deleted without warning. [glow=red,2,300] Lets keep it In Character and most of all, lets make it fun for everyone involved! [/glow]

I thought I would show you guys the first few lines of my possivle fan fiction based on a possible Post Thunderdome Scenario of my own devising. It's going to be set about 2050ish. And stars my yet unnamed main character (Tycho for now ). Tycho was finished waiting. He was finished planning. He was finished dreaming. He was finished packing. He was ready. Ready to set off into, the wasteland. [glow=blue,2,300]The Wasteland Wanderer[/glow]“New Haven” was a great place. A sanctuary in the wastes. It was perfect for farmers, peasants, regular people who wanted to escape the horrors of the wasteland. But for Tycho it was… it was boring. He needed adventure, action, stories to tell his buddies when he was old. A few citizens had gathered at the main gate for Tycho’s departure. Not many people had voluntarily left New Haven, certainly not citizens themselves. Sheriff Calliendo had even brought along two deputies to control the crowd. Tycho checked the straps holding the supplies to the roof of his vehicle were secure. It had taken him over three years to restore the car. His knowledge came from ancient motor magazines and engineering manuals. In fact he had even discovered the exact make of the car when he traded two ration bars for a copy of a faded yet still understandable guide to muscle cars of the 70’s. He discovered the project he had been devoting so much of his time to had been the restoration of a 1976 General Motors Holden HX LE Monaro Coupe.

YEah, Mad Max was one of his first BIG movies, and he did a fantastic job! Although Road Warrior seems to be preferred by many, Gibson had to act much more in the first, portraying his grief over the loss of his family, the murderous feelings of revenge towards the bikers and his descent into a dark emotionless killer.

I know! I guess when I first saw them I just took them for what they were, (maybe I was too young) rather than seeing not only the genius but the amazing way they created a whole world of adventures and stories untold. Now I finally own them all on DVD i cant really understand the brilliance, the MAGNIFICENCE!
[glow=red,2,300]Long Live Mad Max![/glow]
[glow=red,2,300]Long Live His loyal fanbase like you and I![/glow]

I've always liked the trilogy, the whole idea behind the post apocalyptic world. I'd always enjoyed the movies when they had been shown on TV. However up until about 2 years ago I did not have a DVD player. It was only after purchasing Mad Max on DVD that my love for the films was[glow=red,2,300] Relit[/glow] And then, it was even more recently that I discovered the Mad Max FAQ's forums, having frequented the actual FAQ site many times. So now, once again I am an avid fan of the trilogy.
